Sober living homes are good for the transitional period between an intensive inpatient rehabilitation program and returning to the real world. Sober living homes are less structured than inpatient residential treatment centers, however they provide individuals with a comfortable atmosphere to practice the skills they learned in their treatment program. This practice allows them to have a better chance of maintaining sobriety. Additionally it is a good way to avoid relapse. Sober living homes allow people to take baby steps and make sure they are completely ready to return home. There is nothing worse than completing treatment and then relapsing. Sober living homes aim to help people avoid this, and provide a place for them to make sure they are ready.
