Dealing With Alcoholism At A Holistic Addiction Treatment Program

A Holistic Addiction Treatment Program Has A Different Take On Alcoholism

Some rehab and treatment facilities like a holistic addiction treatment program believe that alcoholism is caused by diet and food allergies and not alcohol. It is believed that alcoholics have food allergies to some of the ingredients in alcohol like corn, sugar, grapes and wheat. Therefore, they crave these foods and when they drink alcohol these food go to their bloodstream faster than eating them. The reason the alcoholic can’t kick the addiction is because they still eat corn, sugar, wheat and grapes in their daily life which makes them continue to crave alcohol.

Sober Living Doesn’t Always Happen When You Exit Rehab

Just because you go to rehab doesn’t mean you won’t fall off the wagon once you exit. Sober living isn’t always as easy as an alcoholic thinks it’s going to be once they’ve kicked their addiction in rehab. Therefore it’s important upon leaving rehab to set up a support system, get some sober buddies to hang out with in line, and try to work out some of the pressures that cause you to drink before you leave rehab. It’s also good to find meetings to go to so that you have people to talk to. Get a sponsor, etc. All these things are important in order to achieve sober living and you still may fall of the wagon. It’s one day at a time when you are in rehab.

When Dealing With Alcoholism In Your Family Sometimes It’s Good To Get Help

Someone in your family: father, mother, sister or brother is an alcoholic. You’ve been dealing with alcoholism in your family for awhile. Finally, that person sought help but who helped you? Yes, you. You need help too. Living with an alcoholic has its ups and downs. You never know who you can trust. You never know what the alcoholic is going to do next. It can help to talk about some of the anger, fear and frustration you went through.
