Finding a Drug Treatment Program that Fits Your Needs

What should I look for in a drug rehab clinic?

Everyone has different needs and desires when looking for a drug rehab clinic. Some may find it helpful to jot down a list of qualities that you are want, always remembering that the number one goal is recovery. If there are a few things that you want but cannot have, this may be okay for a short period. In some cases individuals are unable to take a few weeks or a month off from work and require an executive rehab program in which they are able to use free time to do work and focus on their recovery for the greater part of each day. In other cases factors such as location, length of stay, detox program and aftercare are things to take into consideration.

What are the different types of drug addiction treatment programs?

There are as many or more drug addiction treatment programs as there are drugs. For instance, a person with a prescription drug problem would probably not want to check into alcohol rehab where the main focus is to stop drinking and vice versa. Depending on the severity of the addiction an initial consultation with an online or over the phone specialist can help determine if you need short-term or long-term treatment and if it should be residential (where the individuals live at the facility) or outpatient (where individuals are able to go home each day). Further, finding a drug addiction treatment program in which there is a smooth transition from intervention to treatment to aftercare and possibly sober living is very important in some cases.

Will a drug treatment program ensure lasting sobriety?

There is no guarantee that a drug treatment program will work on the first or even second try. Relapse, just like recovery can be part of the process for some people, however, getting discouraged defeats the purpose and the road to recovery may have its occasional ups and downs. Individuals who have been honest with themselves and others during the drug treatment program are many times more likely to stay sober once treatment has been completed. Joining a 12-step program or some other form of support group can also bolster chances for success.
