Alcohol Treatment: In Hopes Of Achieving A Sober Life

Why Is Getting Sober Hard For My Dad

If your dad is abusing drugs or alcohol then he has a disease and that means getting sober is hard for him. He may not even realize or think he has a problem. If he doesn’t drink during the day but comes home at night and drinks and drinks and drinks until he is blue in the face then he may not think he’s doing anything wrong. You are depressed because he doesn’t hang out at night with you or play with you on the weekends. You can try telling how you feel but it may be hard for him to hear you.

Alcohol Treatment Is Not Always The Cure To Alcoholism

Alcohol treatment is the first step toward sobriety but it’s not always a cure for most addicts. A lot of times the addict needs to go to rehab more than once to get sober. Some addicts don’t even get sober after many trips to rehab and counseling and AA meetings and meetings with sponsors. As long as someone is willing to enable an addicts drug or alcohol problem chances are they’ll continue to drink and do drugs.

Don’t Be Fooled Alcohol Rehab Is Hard Work

Anyone who has gone to alcohol rehab knows you can’t fake sobriety. They won’t let you off the hook that easily. Eventually you will have to play nice. Eventually you will have to open up about your addiction problem. They don’t just let you sit there and say nothing. Eventually you have to participate in group discussions and one-on-one counseling. It can really humble and addict who is used to talking his or her way out of situations and getting what they want in the end.
